Barbara worked in a variety of print media including etching, lithographs, collagraphs and artist books.
She held 11 solo exhibitions and contributed to many group exhibitions. Her work is included in collections in Sweden, London, New Zealand, New York, Brazil, Czeck Republic, National Gallery of Australia, Powehouse Museum and State Libraries of New South Wales and Queensland. She had 3 commissions from the Print Council of Australia and her prints received many awards.
Barbara always pushed beyond the boundaries of technique. She saw details and explored the complexities of everyday objects and the subjects she knew best, her home and her city. She drew heavily on her domestic and harbour environment for inspiration. Her images are characterised by a rich density, fine detail and texture.
